Villarreal and Celtic, ‘United for Hope’

Villarreal CF has confirmed the friendly match against Celtic FC Glasgow on the 3rd of September at El Madrigal Stadium, with the gate receipts integrally destined to the United for Hope’ charity project.

The Celtic Submari CSC, a Villarreal supporter’s group that was born when Celtic FC played in 2004 at El Madrigal, in order to commemorate their tenth anniversary, has promoted an initiative with the aim of improving the quality of life of patients affected by childhood cancer. Frequently, children affected by cancer must undergo aggressive therapies which may affect their reproductive capacity when reaching adult age.

That’s why the project consists in studying a way to create a fertility preservation programme in prepuberal children and adolescents suffering from cancer. This solidary plan has the cooperation of ASPANION, the Spanish Association for the support of families with children with cancer and the investigation process will be held in La Fe University Hospital in Valencia.

The main activity of the project is, of course, this friendly match precisely against Celtic FC –due to the fantastic relationship among fans of both clubs and the extraordinary commitment of the Scottish club-, besides several charity activities Celtic Submarí CSC is carrying on, like races, musical shows and cultural meetings.

The challenge is to collect around 150.000 euros to finance the whole project. Let’s do our part and join ‘United for hope’!
